How to Wash a Fleshlight

A clean, dry and sanitized fleshlight is essential to avoid infection. Sperm carries bacteria that can easily colonize a toy that’s stored in warm, dark and damp conditions.

Washing a Fleshlight is simple, but you need to be careful. Soap can degrade the SuperSkin material. The most gentle and safe way is to rinse with cool water.

Washing

A fleshlight sleeve has a lot of nooks and crannies that can harbor bacteria. The textured surface is also very porous and easily absorbs moisture. This is why it’s important to wash your toy frequently, especially if you use it regularly.

You can do this with Fleshwash, a liquid cleanser designed specifically for the toy, or you can soak it in warm water and anti-bacterial soap. It’s best to do the latter, because you’ll get a more thorough cleaning without damaging your Fleshlight sleeve.

Start by removing the end caps from your toy and running warm water through it until everything is flushed out. Then, run a little cleaner through the sleeve to help dissolve any residue left behind. You can also try reaching into the sleeve with your fingers to dislodge any lube or gunk that might have collected there. Strokers tend to have a lot of crevices, and some designs (like the ridged interior) have more than others.

It’s important to avoid using vinegar or hydrogen peroxide to clean your Fleshlight, as these products are corrosive and can damage the material. However, you can slosh a bit of isopropyl alcohol around the entrance and exit holes in your sleeve to kill any bacteria that might be living there.

Drying

If you want to keep your sex toy as clean and fresh as possible, it’s important to let your fleshlight dry completely before storing it. Moisture is the enemy of all sex toys and it can give mold, germs or odor-causing bacteria life.

After you wash your fleshlight, it’s going to take a while for it to air dry completely. This is especially true for more intricate textures like the Fleshlight sleeves, which are more prone to moisture and take longer to dry than smoother fleshlights.

There are a few things you can do to speed up the drying process, though. For instance, you can pour some rubbing alcohol onto your sleeve and then spread it around using your hands. This will help speed up the drying process and also kill any leftover germs that are lurking on your sleeve.

Another thing you can try is placing your sleeve in a container of silica gel. You can get this stuff at most craft stores and it’s great for absorbing moisture from your sex toy.

You can also just let your sleeve air dry. Just make sure that it’s on a flat surface, away from any creases or folds and in a well-ventilated area. This method can take a few hours to a few days, but it’s a very simple and effective way to dry your fleshlight.

Refreshing

If you do not regularly wash your fleshlight, it will quickly start to smell and feel sticky or tacky. It can also lose that smooth, Superskin feeling and become hard to handle. The answer is to refresh it with corn starch, talcum powder or Fleshlight Renewing Powder, which helps keep the material soft and revitalizes it.

Begin by rinsing the sleeve thoroughly, inside and out, with warm water. Irrigate it well, paying special attention to the deep textures and the lip where the sleeve hangs over the case, where bacteria can hide. Use a good amount of soap, working it into suds with your fingers as you rinse. Rinse it again until the water runs clear and there is no trace of soap.

Next, give the case and end caps a quick wash. They should be washed in warm, clean water – not hot or cold, as this could damage the toy’s material. Then liberally spray the toy with a quality toy cleaner or disinfectant, such as FleshWash or isopropyl alcohol (do not use generic sex toy cleaning spray or soap on a Fleshlight, as they may contain chemicals that can damage or discolor the material). Rinse and dry. Finally, put the sleeve back into its case, screwing in the front cap loosely to allow air to circulate and prevent residual moisture from building up in the case.

Maintenance

Fleshlight sleeve inserts have all kinds of nooks and crannies that can harbor fluids. Leaving those fluids in the sleeve over time can break down the material and leave it stinky and sticky. Regular cleaning and drying of the sleeve is essential to ensure that it remains soft, clean and odor-free.

The first step in washing a fleshlight is to rinse it under warm water. Then, use your fingers to make sure that all clumps of cum and lube are washed away. It’s best to wait until the sleeve is dry before applying any other products to it.

After the sleeve is clean, you can sterilize it with alcohol. Pour a 16-ounce bottle of 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol into a bowl, and then soak your sleeve in it for 2 minutes. After that, wipe the sleeve down with a damp cloth and set it on a towel to dry. Be sure to clean the case and cap as well, and don’t forget the end caps.

While it might seem like a hassle to regularly clean and dry your Fleshlight, doing so will prolong its lifespan. A dirty sex toy is a breeding ground for bacteria, which can lead to UTIs and penile yeast infections – both of which are unpleasant, painful and very difficult to treat. It’s also worth remembering that your Fleshlight can cost a fortune, so it’s worth taking good care of it!
